LG’s single-zone systems are sold complete – the outdoor unit and indoor unit – rather than ala carte from which you can pick and choose. Wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted and ducted systems are produced.

Indoor units aren’t always attractive, so LG has introduced the Art Cool Premier and Art Cool Mirror wall-mounted units with stylish good looks. Their air handling performance is outstanding too.
The LG HSV5 High-Efficiency Series delivers 100% of heating capacity to -4F. While there are a few that maintain efficiency to colder temperatures, this is impressive. This series offers 100% capacity cooling to 118F.
The LG zoned Multi V S is the only single-phase VRF (variable-refrigerant flow) system available. This allows it to provide maximum heating and cooling using less energy. The Multi V S system outdoor units range in capacity from 24,000 (2 ton) to 60,000 (5 ton) heating and air conditioning. Full heating capacity is possible to 122F.

LG makes good-quality products with one minor drawback: The most efficient systems, the HYV1 and HYV2 wall-mounted systems, have a maximum rating of just 27.5 SEER and 12 HSPF. That’s good, but there are systems available that are significantly more efficient.

Maximum efficiency is achieved with the HYV1 and HYV2 single-zone outdoor units in a good range of capacities from 9K to 24K. These work with the attractive Art Cool Premier indoor units with sleek design in glacier white cabinets. This is the recommended series for climates with extremely hot weather.
If you choose one of the single-zone HSV Series units, you have your choice of the standard High Efficiency indoor unit or the much more stylish Mirror Cool components with their polished exterior. Mirror Cool looks fantastic in homes with contemporary design, and it is a popular indoor unit series in commercial settings.

The system carries power, refrigerant and the drain from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit as it does with a duct-free system. The High Static ducted system is designed for installation in a ceiling duct in a single zone. The Low Static indoor units can be used in multizone configurations.

LG units are from a Korean company which is not as good as Japan’s ones like Mitsubishi and Fujitsu. But they are more affordable and still reliable in most cases. If you want to seek the highest efficient and extremely quality ductless heat pump, Mitsubishi should be your first choice. The price of Mitsubishi is nearly twice as expensive as the LG ones.
